Welcome to the BattleTactics
page. This is the place for legionnaire players that already know the
basics of battle. This is where we come up with strategic gameplay; which
seperates us from any other regiment on Shattered Galaxy.
Lets go over the Top 10 rules of
winning battles.
#1 Always know your surroundings, while your walking or
sitting a poc or even poccing, take a quick look around the map and figure out
what could be needed next. (such as AA,GA,AG,GG)
#2 NEVER KILL EMPed
UNITS !!! We will be drilling this again and again untill we all get this right.
Emped units have no energy therefore they cannot attack or move or retreat,
leave them be !!!
#3 Hunters always kill Daevas, Pigs, Ghasts, first
always. I shouldnt have to say arbs; thats a given. (sappers+albs
too)
#4 Always leave 1 enemy arb left standing. Okay this is a rule
everybody should get the hang of during a all UnitedLegions
battle.
#5 Use proper EG (endgame) units, you must always know your
role in battle. The EG is all about the pocs that means you better use a
unit to ensure the pocs are safe. (Example1 A UL poccer is attemping to poc, but
the enemy has pigs gaurding it.) Basically there is 2 ways to solve this
problem, you can either take out the pigs using stuff like Phoenix or Ballistas,
OR you can have warp medics on stand-by to help your friend
POC.
(Example2): You have your awsome banshees out
fragging like crazy the whole battle and its EG time. You notice poccers
are heading towards one of our pocs. What should you do ? Answer: Press
F11 to retreat your fragger, then rein a great poc clearing
unit.
#6 MINE !! Yes its just that simple, Mining air+ground wins
battles its really plain and simple.
#7 Pair up ! Basically
if you have a squad of GG and you see a fellow Legionnaire with a squad of GA
try to work together. (Example): GG Levis moving with GA
Cores
#8 Micro-Manage when trying to poc an arbed POC, simply leave
1 unit on till 1/3 dmg left, then put the next unit on before the other
dies. This technique prevents splash dmg from killing all your precious
poccers at once.
#9 Unless its a poccer, try to always leave 1 unit
of anything alive. Usually a unit like a slanth, triage, redeye, arb,
treb, ballista, condor, eagle, hawk,,... you get the idea.
#10
Probably the most important because its always the 1st thing you do before a
battle. USE MULTIPLE Ports !!! I cannot stress that enough. If
the battle isnt PBC'd then i can understand why you can't. However...if a
PBC is in there, they can filter it out so you have time to walk and rein from
differnt providences.
KNOW YOUR ROLE !!
Basically whether you admit it or
not, everybody has a certain role in battle. To give you a few examples
GeneralLeo & EarWig are mostly poccers. HiroKinae & Armina are
hunters/killers. ULgoldwings is a poc-clearer. Those are a few
examples of legionnaires who have a defined role within our battles.
Here
is the main roles of battle as listed. Hunter/Killer, Poccer and Poc
clearer. If you are a Killer please atleast have 1 squad of anti-air or
versitile units for killing air. With all that being said, they are
players who i can consider hybrid, which means they are avg in all 3
categories. If you do plan on going hybrid, i suggest that you always ask
or follow our poccers around to "assist" them.
Now its time for some more
basic ideas that the more experienced players know.
>
Arb/Treb/Ballista each other....basically if we have 2 legionnaires in
battle that are both using trebs; they should both be within each others
reins. If a set of oizys is taking out your friends trebs, and you have
trebs or ballistas within his range...then you can easily knock them oizys
off. Pretty cool huh ?
While on
the subject of artillery units, if you happen to be mining, or within the area
of them. Try to mine around them or try protecting them.
(Example): 1 set of gold-arbs is bombarding the enemies from poccing, you
are at the poc with your spirits shooting the hell out of the poccers too.
Suddenly a group of larva is going after your friend with the gold arbs.
What should you do ? Answer: Run your spirits over to intercept those
larva from taking out our Gold arbs, you will be accomplishing 2 things at
once. 1st you ensure the arbs stay alive longer to clear the poc and 2nd
you just fragged more units. Why try to shoot poccers that are being
bombarded anyways ? When u can just keep the gold arbs alive to clear the
poc for you ?
Time-POC this is one of the most
effective and easiest strats to execute. Instead of poccing EG (which the
enemy usually anticipates) you all decide to poc all mid-game. 2-3 poccers
retreat there units and prepare to rein their poccers at the same time. 1
or 2 support killers should try to do this as well just incase they have Daevas,
Ghasts, or Pigs. Everybody else in battle just does what they do best Frag
Frag Frag.....the enemy will not expect use trying to poc all
mid-game.
Warp-Medics on stand-by for poccers. This
is something that UL member XAveryWattsX and GeneralLeo have excecuted many
times for plenty of great victories. I can place my Revs/Aboms/Wraiths on
any poc that i wish, and he is on stand-by with his warp-medics. ( This can work
with mobile too, just switch your medic to repair)
EMP-Strike
!! This is possibly the greatest un-tapped strategy that no
regiment on the game of SG has prefected yet. I hope that we the
UnitedLegion can be the first to do this. Basically an emp-strike where
atleast 2-3 players go into 1 section of the map (no killers will need to go
there with them) and basically go on a emp fest. 2-3 players can go to a
part of the battle and emp like crazy, the goal is to atleast knock out 3
players out of the game (meaning they are stuck and cannot retreat or
fight) 2 years ago the UnitedLegions tried an emp strike on a very
Pro-regiment. We won that battle without breaking a sweat.
Draw-Backs of the emp-strike
* Organics arnt effected by it
* Wuluz
will always kill the unit anyway even if emped
* Sometimes there is nothing a
legionnaire can do to prevent accidently killing a emped unit, because of
auto-targeting.
* Solar can really mess it up/ Also the enemy doing a
TK
Unit Managment
Skills
Okay so you already decided what units you want, now its
time to show you ways to use them in the most effective manner. I will
provide photos with examples on how certain units can be
used.
Behemoth- One very effective way to use these massive units
is to "Sit" a poc. What you will do is try to cover as much as the poc
with your moths that you can, which prevents poccers from being able to step
onto it. One way of doing this would be to highlight your squad and press
Alt+W to circle the poc, then press Alt+E so they form towards the middle, Then
press S for them to stop. Once you master this skill it becomes a great
way to slow down enemy poccers.
Keypoint: Usually it takes 8 moths to fully
sit a poc 100%
Tip: Find someone else to sit the poc with, examples of that
are in the photos shown towards the right.
WarPigeons- The most
effective way to carpet bomb enemy poccers into the ground is to highlight your
pigs and press Alt+E, this will make them stack ontop of each other making it a
more concentrated assult.
KeyPoints: When equiping your pigs,
try to use the biggest energy stock that you can fit onto it, it doesnt matter
if it can regain or not. Also if your energy requirments allow you may
want to equip a speed booster onto them also.
If you do not want a
speed booster then give them the best armor/hp that you possibly can
!!
Arbs/Trebs/Ballistas- When aiming these units, simply
press Ctrl+Rightclick on the mouse. Once you get the feel of it, start
fragging away !
Specs"nukers"- Okay these little devils can either
help use in a big way, or become a waste of great PR space in our battle.
If you want to become a nuker you need to follow these instructions !
1st,
Realize that it takes around 4-5 mins for nukes to charge (This means don't rein
them in last 2 mins of battle)
2nd, A dead nuker, is a worthless nuker, if
you can place them inside mantlets, or hide them really well.
3rd,
Don't nuke stupid targets, nuke stuff that actually means something, like a POC
!!
4rd, Try to predict how much hp the enemies have before you nuke
them. If you see lvl 25 wraiths on a poc it most likely has well over 9000
hp, so you will want to use all of your nukes at once in hopes of destroying
them. With that in mind if you decide you want to nuke a squad of arbs,
you may only need 2-3 nukes to take them out.
5th DO NOT nuke 1 at a time
!!!! Thats automatic boot out of the regiment if you continue to do
that.
6th Be aware of where your allies are before you nuke
!
7th I will repeat this, try to use atleast 2-3 nukes per
launch. If trying to clear a POC, then launch all at once !
